Impact2Insight Youth Lab is seeking passionate college students, graduate students, and emerging professionals to serve as Student Mentors & Research Fellows — supporting youth cohorts tackling housing insecurity, hunger, environmental justice, and public policy.

This role is ideal for students interested in education, youth development, research, public policy, social impact, data science, or community engagement.

What you'll do

Key responsibilities.

Mentor and support middle and high school student cohorts

Assist students with research projects, presentations, and community investigations

Help facilitate workshops, discussions, and collaborative activities

Support field research, surveys, interviews, mapping, and data collection

Encourage student leadership, creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking

Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth participants

Assist with community partner engagement and showcase presentations

Help create a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment

Who we're looking for

qualifications.

No single background is required — we welcome students from all disciplines who share our commitment to equity and youth empowerment.

Current undergraduate, graduate, or master's-level student

Passion for youth mentorship, education, leadership, or community impact

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and professionals

Experience in research, data analysis, tutoring, or community work is a plus — not required

Dependable, professional, and enthusiastic about helping students grow

Academic backgrounds
